YEARNING THE SOUL MATE
I saw you once
Saw you in a flash
You were the sun
Then,
The nightfall,
Moonless
Dusk
I touched you once
Touched the velvet warmth
Then
The winter
The lonesome
Sunk
I had you
Had you
Once
And
Were
You
Twice
Then
Lost you
In sea of
Mind
I reached you
Called you
Grabbed and kissed
You
- I died to you –
My heart frightened
Ran
From your
Shade
I miss you
Missed you
And will
I need you
Know you and
Call you until . . .

Re: YEARNING THE SOUL MATE
Wed, December 24, 2008 - 2:35 PMThank you for posting this loverly poem-prayer to the beloved. I wish to introduce another way of seeing the yearning for the Soul Mate, a yearning that can sometimes -- not always -- act as a mask for the Courtship Compulsion. I only hope my post does not rain too hard on the lovefest here.
The Courtship Compulsion weakens the heart and wastes the imagination by an increasing emotional investment in an idealized image of the "dream lover" and its obsessive search for "The One", the "soulmate". The culture at large feeds and controls the Courtship Compulsion in many ways, from mass media promotions of The Beauty Myth that masks widespread oppression of the women and the men who fall for it, to the pre-fab promises that marriage brings eternal happiness. The Courtship Compulsion can also conceal a sophisticated sadomasochistic ritual of self-torment where love is always wanted but never truly found.
I think the spiritual root of the Courtship Compulsion dwells in the authentic yearning resulting from any serious loss of verticality; the greater the loss of vertical contact, the greater the yearning. Verticality, as in sources of energy.information streaming down from above and up from below n a vertical axis mediated by the spinal column. If we can restore personal communion with our vertical sources, this courtship compulsion transforms and is replaced by the experience of oneself as love. Love as true nature.
Realizing our true nature we can engage fully in romantic and longterm relations with others, not as any desperate search for love but, as an act of love itself in the sharing and offering of the self. The imagination, once previously projected and wasted on bleak and unattainable and self-tormenting fantasies, is now free to dream itself more fully from a fertile source of love. When nourished by such a foundation, Imagination flourishes and makes a home for the soul. -

Thu, December 25, 2008 - 5:51 AMim not sure i see what you're saying with the 'alafa' male remark.
but serious that was a lovely poem but i don't think you can ask for a better articulation of the nature of self-other vertical-horizontal projections in intimacy and love than that.. that was some sincerely dope shit.. eeeewaaa ! ;)
as a pluto-venus conjunct scorpio and aries north node kind guy, i continue my journey is setting it right in myself so that i can walk the earth in integrity and connection to the One that I yearn for and truly Am, and make Love and be Love with friends and lovers as they appear on my path and beam Self back in on itSelf in a dance of sensual earthly delight. On a humorous note, I wish you all luck in knowing you are That and may we all replicate the Goddess together, yeah ! ;):) ;) haha -

Thu, December 25, 2008 - 7:33 PMI meant alpha....(i just started a sprouting broccoli and I used the wrong term)....but in case it came off as a slight..
Well I really enjoy Shervin's poems....I have noticed his talents for a long time now....and I have never heard his voice in type ...he seems only to communicate in poem...he is like a epic larger than life solitary voice that haunts the tribe popping up from time to time with these amazing poems....and then there is Sherpa who communicates with an virtuosity that is always fresh and original never tired, and always in the voice of a kind teacher. Anyways I saw them on this thread not locking horns ......but passing by each other that's all. -

One can really yearn and be open to a real yearning of another
and have that yearning joined and slaked.
