I've had both of these books and browsed through them. I liked Nimbus better but neither one's style appealed to me, although I've liked other books by EJ. I believe Nimbus is the earlier version of Creation Story Verbatim. Nimbus is the companion book to Secret Talks With Mr. G. Along with a video, these books featured EJ Gold in makeup imitating Gurdjieff. In Secret Talks Gold slyly planted subtle claims to being the true succesor to Gurdjieff through a "Second Foundation" and other claims. The Gurdjieff community had a very strong reaction to Gold's actions and older foundation people still dislike him. The English kept his books out of England for years with a very strong campaign against him. Sorry I don't have much to say about the content of the books. I remember Creation Story being more like one of his theater pieces and Nimbus was more in the fake Gurdjieff style.

His shenanigans and humor are what I most enjoy about his writing, particularly in Nimbus. I've never seen the video but it sounds fun.

I actually believed that EJ Gold in makeup was really Gurdjieff. The video and books were fun at the time but later it was embarrassing to have been so incredulous. Partly I was hooked by the Second Foundation charade since I was a science fiction kid growing up. (and still am) Anyone who read and loved the Foundation Trilogy as much as I did, and knew of the Gurdjieff Foundation, would already be set up for the trick. Then the inplication that Gurdjieff slipped away from his usual people on trips to America and founded this secret group, and then gave special shocks? to certain children so they could eventually come and take over the work. (Gold being one of them) It was too wonderfully secret and incredible not to want to believe in.

There's a sucker born every minute!
